Cebuanos to Enjoy 3 Holidays for the Month of August

Three holidays were declared in Cebu for the whole month of August this year.

The first holiday is on August 6 (Tuesday) a special non-working holiday. It is the day to commemorate the 446th Charter Day of Cebu. The holiday was created by Republic Act No. 8952

Cebu’s highly urbanized cities like Cebu City and Mandaue City; components cities like Danao City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Toledo City; and Cebu Towns is covered by the holiday.

All workers who will work on August 6 will enjoy a 30 percent premium over their rates.

The second holiday is on August 21 (Wednesday), this is in celebration of the Ninoy Aquino Day. Ninoy Aquino Day is a special non-working holiday. The holiday was created by Republic Act 9256 commemorating the assassination of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.

The third holiday is on August 26 (Monday) or National Heroes Day, this is in compliance with Republic Act 9492. National Heroes Day is a regular holiday, means that workers who are working during August 26 will enjoy a “double pay” or enjoy another full payment of their rate. (ASC)
