Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma has urged the faithful to open their homes and host delegates to the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) to be held in Cebu in January 2016.

In his letter, copies of which were distributed to Roman Catholic church parishes, Palma said the historic event on Jan. 24-31, 2016 will bring to Cebu thousands of foreign delegates from various countries and local delegates from other parts of the Philippines.

“I am, therefore, inviting you to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience by hosting a delegate or two in your name. Your priest will orient on the requirements of this hosting,” read Palma’s letter.

“Hoping you will open your hearts and your home to this invitation, and imparting upon you and your family my apostolic blessing,” Palma said.

The host families must register and be endorsed by the parish priest within their area or president of a mandated organization and covenanted community, or president of a homeowners’ association.

Palma set the qualifications for the hosts as follows:

1) There should be a separate room/s for guests, and rooms need not be air-conditioned;

2) Host families are to provide their guests with breakfast and dinner;

3) Host families are also requested to provide guests transportation from their houses to the carousel route stops, which will be designated as the event nears; and

4) Host families must be willing to attend briefings prior to the event. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
