Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma has encouraged the Cebuano faithful to attend the Holy Week activities in churches all over Cebu and ponder upon the passion and death of Jesus.

“Let us remember everything our Lord did for us to save us from eternal damnation,” he said.

The Cebu Archdiocese has also released Palma’s schedule of activities during the Holy Week from April 9 to 16.

This includes the celebration of the Holy Week liturgies at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral in Cebu City, the seat of the Archdiocese of Cebu.

Palma, 67, will celebrate the Palm Sunday Mass at the cathedral at 8 a.m. on April 9.

Palma will officiate the Evening Mass of the Lord’s last supper at 4 p.m. on Maundy Thursday.

The popular “Siete Palabras” or the reflections on the Seven Last Words of Jesus on the cross, to be delivered by members of the clergy, will be broadcast from the cathedral on Good Friday starting at 12 noon.

At 3 p.m. on Good Friday, Palma will lead the celebration of the Lord’s passion and the veneration of the cross.

He will also lead the Easter Vigil that includes the blessing of the new fire and water, renewal of baptismal promises and Mass of the Lord’s resurrection on Black Saturday.

Palma will lead the Easter Mass at 5:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 16. (PNA)/EB/RSM
