Cebu Pacific Imposes New Baggage Policy, Fines Could Reach P1.3K

Cebu Pacific (CEB) on Monday laid out the company’s new baggage policy, which include fines up to PHP1,300 for check-in luggage that are oversized.

The policy, which was made effective on February 1, 2020, states that check in bags shall not exceed 39 inches on each side so it may fit in the conveyor belt easier, which allows for faster transfer of luggages.

Moreover, the policy also states that luggage that shall exceed 39 inches on any side will be considered as oversized and the owner subject to a fine of PHP 800 for domestic flights, and PHP 1,300 for international flights.

CEB justified the fines saying that this is brought about by manual process required in transporting the bag to the baggage loading area.

Apart from the one hand-carry bag weighing a maximum of seven kilograms that CEB allows per passenger, no other hand-carry bags are allowed–including laptops bags.

However, for parents with infants or persons with disabilities, one additional bag is allowed given that the said bag should fit and stowed under the seat. (GFB)
