The Cebu City Government will deploy emergency responders to the 10 cemeteries in the city starting on Oct. 30, Friday, as part of the security preparations for the celebration of All Saints’ Day and All Soul’s Day.

The city has cemeteries in Pardo, Labangon, Calamba, Talamban, Lorega, Carreta, Cempark Cemetery, Doña Pepang Cemetery, Chinese Cemetery and Ludo and Queen City Garden Cemetery.

Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, chairperson of the of the city’s Peace and Order Program, said barangay tanods will also be deployed on the same day to ensure the security of the public.

The city will also put portable toilets in the cemeteries for the convenience of the public.

Tumulak said they will also install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the entrances and exits of cemeteries to monitor the flow of the public.

Tumulak said the CCTVs were lent to them by different CCTV suppliers in the city.

He said they were the same suppliers who lent to the city CCTV cameras during the annual Sinulog celebration.

Acting Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella, presiding officer of the city’s Police Coordinating and Advisory Council (PCAC), said he has talked to Cebu City Police Office chief Mariano Batiancela, who informed him that the city’s police force are all set for Nov. 1 and 2.

“We have a template on Oplan Kalag-Kalag. We have done this successfully in the previous years. It is just a matter of implementing what has already been practiced,” he said. (PNA) FPV/EB/EDS
