To fight the new surge of COVID-19 cases in Cebu City, the Cebu City Health Department (CCHD) urges the city residents to strictly follow health safety guidelines.

Although there are no new confirmed reports of the city having the COVID-19 Delta variant, residents are told to be still vigilant at all times.

As of August 6, 2021, Cebu City logged 329 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total active cases to 3,344 — 181 new recoveries (27,061 total recoveries), six new deaths (972 total deaths), and 31,377 total number of COVID-19 cases.

CCHD Head Dr. Jeffrey Ibones asks the people to be inoculated with the COVID-19 as vaccinations are still ongoing despite the city being under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

However, walk-ins for the vaccine are still not allowed as of the moment.

As of writing, there are a total of 282,207 doses of vaccines administered in the city. Of this number, 166,697 doses are first doses, while 115,510 are second dose.

Cebu City targets to achieve 70% population protection by the end of the year. (ASC)
