CDI Summit Brings Together Digital Innovators

The Cebu Digital Innovation Summit last, which aimed to make the Cebu business community ready to face the future, was held last June 2 and 3 at the Summit Galleria Hotel, Robinsons Galleria – Cebu.

The event was one of the activities lined up for the Cebu Business Month (CBM) celebration.

Chaired by 2016 CBM Overall Chairman Christian Paro-an, the Cebu Digital Innovation Summit showcased informative talks and topics discussed by the renowned local, national and foreign experts.

The summit also highlighted opportunities, challenges, current trends, and developments as well as the impact of digital technology on MSMEs in the ICT/BPM Industry.

As a sidelight, a CDI Summit Exhibit was also held featuring of products and services from young and homegrown business start-ups.

Products developed through the Fabrication Laboratory of UP Cebu dubbed as Fablab UP Cebu were also featured.

This laboratory aims to equip makers, design students, professionals, MSMEs, and the public to have access to advance prototyping, printing and related equipment, as well as training/workshop facilities.

“Cebu can depend on DICT to help in promoting the region to lead the Philippine Digital Economy on the Internet, on a virtual, and trusted marketplace facilitating the exchange of digital services, local content, and network traffic,” said National ICT Planning Division Chief Engr. George P. Tardio who came on behalf of Dept. of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Rodolfo A. Salalima.

Further, Tadeo encouraged everyone to envision Cebu to be a rainforest with up-to-date technologies, thriving businesses, and a high and steady productivity while also safeguarding information against misuse and business continuity threats through cyber security.

Close to 300 participants took part in the summit, which also served as venue for the induction of the first set of officers of the Innovation Council of Cebu.
