CCCI Advocates Food Safety Thru GAP

Published

on

Together with the AFOS Foundation and the Department of Science and Technology, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) continuously promotes Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for food safety under the Optimizing and Upscaling Roles In the Food Supply Chain (OURFood) Program.

OURFood Program assists farmers and farmer associations to be GAP Certified which guarantees that fruits and vegetables are produced free from microbial food safety hazards and adhered to environmental standards.

Recently, the first GAP Certified is the Dalaguete Vegetable Grower’s Association (DAVEGA) in Dalaguete, Cebu. Further, DAVEGA launched its maiden “Farmer’s Market Day” last Friday, December 2 at the open area of the old DOST-7 Compound in Banilad, Cebu City. Surprisingly, a known high-end food center in Cebu City posted an order of 300 kilos of fruits and leafy vegetables from DAVEGA. DAVEGA exemplifies the CCCI’s 2016 thrust which is to bring business to the next level.
