Catch Rex Smith Live at Cebu Parklane Hotel

Love songs and a cause. This is what it will be about during the upcoming Valentines benefit concert of American singer Rex Smith, this Feb. 10 (Monday), 8 p.m. at Victoria Hall in Cebu Parklane International Hotel (CPIH).

Dubbed as “Love Over Load 2”, a sequel of John Ford Coley’s Cebu+Bohol benefit concert last October, that time for the earthquake victims, Rex will be serenading the Cebuanos this time with the aim of being able to help the victims of the super typhoon Yolanda, which hit the Philippines (central) late last year.

Rex is known for his hits like “Simply Jessie”, “You Take My Breath Away”, which which reached No. 10 in Billboard Hot 100 in the 1979 television movie “Sooner or Later”, “Let’s Make a Memory”, and “Everlasting Love”. Aside from being a singer, Rex is also an innate actor. He has performed in many Broadway productions in the US as well as starred in various television series in the country.

In 1978, he made his Braodway debut in the musical “Grease” in the lead role of Danny Zuko. Recently, he appeared as the Captain in “The Sound of Music” in the Ogunquit Playhouse, in 2010.

For his TV stint, Rex is best known for his role as motorcycle police officer Jesse Mach in the short-running 1985 television series “Street Hawk”, but he has also made guest appearances on a variety of television shows, such as “The Love Boat” and ” Baywatch”.

Joining Smith in the benefit concert will be rising Filipina theater singer Olivia. Proceeds of the benefit concert will be for the livelihood program of the fishermen at the northern part of Cebu province. Tickets are priced at P1,000, Buy 1 Take 1, plus inclusive of a FREE drink per ticket.
