Online car platform Carmudi has recently extended its partnership with the Car Awards Group, Inc. (CAGI) for the latter’s upcoming 2016 Car of the Year Philippines (COTY-P) and Truck of the Year Philippines (TOTY-P) awards.

Now on its second year in support of CAGI, the international website with a dedicated Philippine content is fast becoming the choice conduit between verified, reputable sellers and prospective buyers of new and old vehicles. Carmudi users have unparalleled, swift access to tens of thousands of certified listings and, perhaps most importantly, get an unmatched guarantee of the lowest price.

According to its managing director Abhi Mohan, “We are pleased to announce that Carmudi will once again support the Car of the Year Awards by renewing our partnership with CAGI. This is in keeping with our commitment to provide our customers with the best possible information when it comes to making automobile purchase decisions.”

He added: “CAGI plays an important role in bringing together the automobile industry as an unbiased third party, and we remain supportive of the group’s initiatives.”

For his part, Atty. Robby Consunji, president of CAGI, said: “We are happy that Carmudi supports COTYPhilippines. This year, we are expecting around 60 new or significantly upgraded vehicles to join the testing. Eligible for consideration this year are vehicles launched in the Philippine market from October 2015 to November 2016. This timeframe is set yearly to ensure that only the latest vehicles are tested, and that the buying public is able to make informed decisions when making purchases.”

Qualitative testing uses predetermined consumer metrics like vehicle ride, fit, and feel, while quantitative testing employs GPS-based hardware to measure acceleration, braking, and handling. Each year, winners for each category are announced. From that pool emerges the year’s COTY-P and TOYT-P.

In preparation for testing, CAGI has recently added two brand-new VBOX Sport data loggers to its arsenal. The VBOX is an internationally recognized data acquisition system that uses high-performance GPS receivers. It is able to measure speed, distance, acceleration, braking distance, heading, slip angle, lap times, position, cornering forces, and more with high accuracy.

The Car Awards Group, Inc.’s 2016 Car of the Year Philippines season is co-presented by Carmudi in partnership with KPMG. Sponsors include Ayala Land Premier, Nuvali, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, Motolite Batteries, El Cielito Hotel-Sta. Rosa, Manila International Auto Show, Worldbex International, Speedlab, and Bose. Official media partners include BusinessMirror, Malaya Business Insight, The Philippine Star, Auto Review, Turbo Zone, and JamesDeakin.ph.

Established in 2004, CAGI is the longest-running organization of motoring journalists in the country today. The Test Fest begins on October 25 at Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
