Estella said the project, which is said to cost the province P4 million, was already bid out.

The PENRO chief said among the areas that will have this water catchment system are the buildings of the Capitol, Legislative, Cebu South Bus Terminal, Museo Sugbo and the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center.

He said under the original plan, the Cebu International Convention Center was supposed to have its own water catchment, too, but since Gov. Hilario Davide III wants to give up the property, they rerouted the project to the CPDRC.

Estella said they also hope to replicate this project to the local government units. He said the system is just similar to the one used in islets and mountain barangays with no water supply wherein gutters are placed at the end of the roof to harvest rainwater. At the corners are vats or huge containers that collect this rainwater.
