Another seven (7) barangays received multicabs from the Cebu Provincial Government.

Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale led the ceremonial distribution of the mini vehicles last November 18 at the Capitol grounds.

Provincial Board Members Jude Thaddeus Durano-Sybico, Miguel Antonio Magpale, and Raul Alcoseba also attended the activity.

There are eight recipients, namely; Barangays Tapul, Talisay City; Candaguit, Sibonga; Mangyan, Sibonga; Tabok, Danao City; Santa Rosa, Danao City; Obong, Dalaguete; and San Isidro, San Fernando.

The other recipient is the municipality of Sibonga while Barangay Candaguit already got its multicab earlier.

“As we all know, it’s part of our program nga mohatag ayuda (to give assistance) in terms of mobility especially para sa mga barangays nga naa sa lagyo kaayo nga dapit (for the far-flung barangays),” Gov. Davide said.

He added that the cab distribution will continue as long as there are available funds for it. He said he still receives request for multicabs or mini ambulance from the barangays in addition to the pending requests.

The multicabs were turned over in the form of donation to the recipients.

Vice Governor Agnes Magpale said Governor Davide has turned over at least 176 units of vehicles since he assumed office in June 2013 for a total worth of Php 59,255,580.90. The number includes 25 ambulances and 33 mini ambulances.

Magpale said the distribution indicated how the current administration emphasized the importance of emergency vehicles in the area of health and social services.

Health and social services are part of Gov. Davide’s six key development agenda.

The vice governor explained that mini ambulances are designed to penetrate the remote areas where the roads are constricted.

Tapul Barangay Captain Mary Ann Nolasco revealed the difficulty of not having its own vehicle. Before this mini ambulance, the barangay had to borrow privately- owned multicabs to transport their patients.

“Kung walay multicab nga kahulaman, mapugos mig pasakay sa pasyente sa habal-habal (If no multicab is available, we will be forced to hire motorcycle to carry our patient),” she said.

Apart from transporting patients, Nolasco said they can also use the multicab as a service vehicle of their barangay officials or even their barangay pulis.

Nolasco was thankful to the governor not only for the multicab. She said received 38 scrolls of 300-meter of hose that they use for farm irrigation and daily need.

She said they used to pay somebody to fetch water for Php 15 per container because their water source is still around three to four kilometers away from their household.

“Salamat sa tabang sa Kapitolyo, nagaaan among inadlaw nga panginabuhi (I thank the Capitol for the help, our every existence has become easier,” she said.
