Bank of the Philippine Islands won the Silver Anvil Award for its retirement program, “Navigate: Reap your Rewards, Make the Best Happen” at the recent 50th Anvil Awards.

The Silver Anvil Award, which is conferred on entities with the best PR programs directed at specific stakeholders, was given to BPI for its “Navigate” program, designed to prepare retiring employees for changeover. It is in line with BPI’s advocacy on the value of human capital, and is one of several people management projects of the bank intended to nurture and recognize the key role of people in delivering effective service to the bank’s loyal client base.

BPI President and CEO Cezar P. Consing says, “We run this program because we value our retirees. Most of them have spent the majority if not all of their working careers with the bank, and we owe it to them to help them prepare for the next phase of their lives.”

Preserving our heritage

Meanwhile, BPI Foundation received both the Gold Anvil Award and the first Platinum Anvil Award in the PR tools publication category for the publication of “Salapi: The Numismatic Heritage of the Philippines.”

The 280-page full color coffee table book was launched in January 2014 to celebrate the evolution and development of money in the Philippines. Through the artful presentation of compelling images and a narrative that breathes life into rare money collections from BPI, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Money Museum, and private local and foreign archives, the book propagates Philippine heritage and the history of its financial transactions. “Salapi” is also an ambitious project that allowed both currency notes and coins to be featured in a single book for the first time.

“We published ‘Salapi’ because we wanted to show the richness of the country’s monetary heritage. As the country’s oldest bank, and one that for a time issued the country’s currency, BPI was in a unique position to undertake this project,” Consing points out.

The Anvil honors outstanding achievements in the field of public relations.
