Boracay Welcomes First Cruise Ship For This Year

This resort island welcomed over 3,000 passengers and crews carried by MS Celebrity Millennium, the first luxury cruise ship to dock here this year.

MS Celebrity Millennium operated by Celebrity Cruises arrived at around 8 a.m. of Wednesday, January 27.

Marking its inaugural call in this resort island, an exchange of plaque between the Aklan Provincial Government, Department of Tourism 6, the Local Government Unit of Malay and Celebrity Cruises was conducted on board the luxury ship.

Meanwhile, the 2,138 passengers and 920 crews of the ship were welcomed by Ati-atihan dancers at Cagban Port.

The cruise passengers were also treated for a one-day excursion around the world-famous island.

After Boracay, the cruise ship will sail to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia and Singapore.

Today, January 28, MS Nautica will also dock in the island for the first time; with 600 passengers and 370 crews while MS Costa Victoria will make a return trip on January 29 with 2,000 passengers and 760 crews.

At least 10 cruise ships are scheduled to visit Boracay this year.(PNA) FPV/AJ/KVBERMEJO/LPT
