Kalibo, Aklan — Boracay, the small island in Panay, which was awarded the No. 1 World’s Best Island of 2012 by Travel+ Leaisure Magazine is drawing even more attention with its famous powdery-white sand beach and stunning sunset.

For the first 10 months of this year,  Boracay Island has already generated a total of P41,573,372,071.50 in tourism receipts according to the Aklan Provincial Tourism Office (APTO).

APTO record showed that of the total tourism receipts from January to October 2016, P29,243,096,812.80 came from foreign and overseas Filipino tourists; while P12,330,275,258.70 earned from domestic tourists.

Based on the report, Boracay received a total of 1,466,746 tourists in the first 10 months of 2016, which triggered the growth of tourism receipts of the island.

The number of tourists received by the island this year from January to October increased by 12.24 percent compared to last year’s data of the same period with 1,306,799 arrivals. With the increasing trend of tourist arrivals in Boracay, the Aklan Provincial Government is optimistic that this year’s target of 1.7 million tourists in the famous island will be reached.

What makes Boracay famous?

Aside from the beach itself, Boracay is known to be a very good place for relaxation. It is also becoming a top destination for tranquility and nightlife.

Filipinos are the most hospitable hosts. Locals here are the warmest and nicest people you’ll ever meet. And what is more convenient is that they can speak English.

It’s like a city in an island, where huge hotels, ATMs and cafes are available.

And most of all, the food is all very good. It’s a perfect spot not just for those seeking for adventure but also for food bloggers. (AVS/JSC/SQP/PIA6 Aklan)
