The tourist islands of Boracay, Cebu, and Palawan were hailed as part of the world’s best islands, according to United States-based Travel+Leisure (T+L) Magazine.

The T+L article published July 12, defined the islands cited as part of the best in the world as islands that “promise much more than aquamarine waters, dramatic coastlines, and pristine beaches”.

In the list, Boracay, a staple of Philippine tourism, landed 9th in the list. While Palawan and Cebu are off the top 10, they rank a respectable 11th and 16th in the top 25 list.

Moreover, in another article named “5 Best Islands in Asia” that T+L published the same day, Boracay landed the 4th spot, while Palawan followed at the 5th spot.

In its “5 Best Islands in Asia” list, T+L said that Boracay, returning to the list after a “hiatus,” boasts two and a half miles of white beach, “which is dotted with restaurants and lodgings for visitors looking for easy access to ideal snorkeling and diving”.

T+L also called Palawan “ever-popular,” adding that the tourism hub “offer(s) blissful beachfront experiences”.

T+L surveys readers annually for their World’s Best Awards lists. The magazine also asks their readers to “share their opinions on the top cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more”.

Readers then rate the islands “according to their activities and sights, natural attractions and beaches, food, friendliness, and overall value,” T+L said. (GFB)
