BOPK-LP Rally Today

With the Team PNoy and BOPK staging its political campaign rally at the Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds, the venue got jampacked this afternoon with swarming local supporters of the political party.

Liberal Party (LP) senatoriables Loren Lagarda, Jamby Madrigal, Sonny Angara, Chiz Escudero, Risa Hontiveros, Jun Magsaysay, Grace Poe, Coco Pimentel and Benigno “Bam” Aquino joined the team of the Bando Osmena-Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) in its political gathering headed by Congressman Tomas Osmena. Also, Acting Cebu Governor Agnes Magpale and Gubernatorial candidate Hilario “Junjun” Davide, Jr. were present.

President Ninoy Aquino was accompanied by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas and Department of Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla.

President Aquino was here in Cebu today to grace in three rallies. One was the groundbreaking ceremony of the P3.72452-billion Mactan Circumferential Road widening in Lapulapu City and then he went to Bogo City afterwards to meet with the local leaders and the community at the Celestino Martinez Sr. Sports and Cultural Center. Then he proceeded to the gathering of the BOPK political party at the Capitol grounds.

In the BOPK-LP rally, the senatorial candidates shared to the people their respective platforms, assuring supporters that election to the position they are running for would assure the public of implementation of their proposed laws.

The LP candidates spoke of platforms that address poverty alleviation in the country. Such is the universal healthcare which will cover the 25 million poorest Filipinos to free medicines and medical consultations, and a free doctor for every “barrio”. This was made mention by senatoriables Loren Legarda and Risa Hontiveros.

Legarda also noted on her “Pantawid” Tuition Program where it aims to provide at least one college scholarship to have at least one college graduate in every Filipino family. Hontiveros on the other hand mentioned healthcare for women and education for children.

Grace Poe too, spoke of programs for the underprivileged Filipinos such as a free lunch program in all public schools, jobs for fresh graduates and more employment, and support to the farmers for the agriculture sector.

The members of the Team PNoy in the rally randomly voiced PNoy’s infamous presidential speech line “Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap.” (If there’s no corrupt, there’s nobody suffering from poverty.)

The BOPK-LP rally program was staged from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
