Back-to-Back Travel Expo and Industrial Trade Show

Last July 25, the 4th Cebu International Travel Expo (CITE), the 17th Industrial Machinery, Factory Automation, Hardware Products Power Tools, Material Handling, Welding Technology, and Accessories Exhibition and PACKPRINT PLAS Cebu, were opened at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino for a three-day show. New and joining to the line up was the Great Furniture Sale presented by the Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation (CFIF).

The event was organized by Global Link MP Events International, Inc. (GLMP). According to Global Link Chief Operating Officer Patrick Lawrence Tan, the exhibition this year was 20 % larger. “Show is growing but products are changing,” quips Tan.

Among the initial highlights during the opening was a brief talk on recycling, considering flood is a  perennial  problem in Cebu City now. Tan said that solid and liquid waste are growing just as population is increasing, in the city.

“Solid and liquid waste are growing in the city. We’ve  talked with representatives in Cebu City, to explore on an investment that will deal with recycling, “ Tan said.

In the show, the trend of innovation and becoming digital in minimizing wastage, was also emphasized through the different companies who exhibited their products and services. “Like for Canon and Nikon, they are not only copiers, they’re shifting to technology. Everybody now is going digital, though the sue of advanced equipment. Like for printing for example, you can print less now.. What we’re doing through the show, is consolidate everyone,” quoted Tan.

The show was organized with the partnership of the following organizations: Cebu Association of Tour Operators (CATO), Cebu Tours and Travel Association (CTTA), Cebu Bakers Association (CEBA), Cebu Organization of Printing Industries (COPI), Packaging Institute of the Philippines (PIP), Philippine Center for Print Excellence Foundation, Inc. (PCPEFI), Philippine Plastics Industry Association (PPIA), Philippine Society of Plumbing Engineers (PSPE), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region VII, Department of Tourism (DOT) Region VII, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region VII, Philexport Cebu and Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), and The Cebu- Gifts, Toys and Housewares Foundation, Inc. (CEBU-GTH).
