Over 200 nurses explored the possibilities of nursing careers abroad as they joined the Australia Nursing Career Expo (ANCE) at Radisson Blu Hotel last Saturday.

Organized by Enhance Visa, the event is to educate local nurses on how to pursue successful careers in the Australian healthcare industry. It was open to fresh graduates and registered nurses.

Resource speaker Vikram Sharma, an Australian registered migration agent, said the Filipino nurses, although their education here in the Philippines is recognized in Australia, need to study there to qualify for employment and permanent residency in Australia.

Lawson College in Australia is Enhance Visa’s connection for Filipino nurses who want to study and work in Australia.

Sharma also shared about the different skilled work professions in the healthcare industry that are currently in high demand in Australia.

“One of Australia’s problems in recent years is that it is losing most of its professionals to retirement and we need more healthcare workers to meet the demands of an aging population,” says Sharma.

There has been an increasing demand for personal care workers and other aged healthcare professionals which considered skilled work professions in Australia.

According to the Federal Employment Department, healthcare and social assistance jobs are projected to increase by almost 800,000 by the year 2025.

Sharma, who is also the president of Lawson College, shared about the different programs that Lawson offers to prepare nurses for stable jobs in Australia. Their healthcare training programs include business courses as Australian employers find more value in nurses with management backgrounds to complement the increasingly complex needs in the workplace.

In partnership with Enhance Visa, Lawson College seeks to uplift the lives of Filipino healthcare professionals who seek greener pastures abroad to make their lives and that of their families’ more comfortable. The training that Filipino nurses can get from Lawson exposes them to skilled work jobs that are eligible for permanent residency in Australia. It also gives them the qualifications to succeed anywhere in the world.

“Enhance Visa, along with its partners, earnestly seek to help our Filipino nurses own this global opportunity in order to build a better future for their families,” says Eden Dumont, Managing Director of Enhance Visa.

Enhance Visa has been providing comprehensive immigration solutions to Canada, Australia and New Zealand for the past 22 years. The company seeks to help more Filipinos build their dreams of a more stable and permanent future for them and their families.
