August 31 Declared as Holiday

(Cebu City PIO) — Another holiday will be on August 31, Monday, as it will be the National Heroes Day. It is declared as a regular holiday pursuant to the Republic Act 9492 which amended Book 1, Chapter 7 of the Administrative Code. Per RA 9492, the celebration of National Heroes Day falls on the last Monday of August.

Cebuanos enjoys at least three (3) holidays for the whole month of August this year.

Last August 6, a special non-working holiday for entire Cebu Province was declared pursuant to Republic Act No. 8952 or the Cebu Provincial Charter Day. The holiday included its highly urbanized cities – Cebu and Mandaue and its component cities – Danao, Toledo and Lapu-Lapu. Those who will work on these holidays enjoys a 30 percent premium over their rates in the entire Cebu province.

On August 21 Friday, was a special non-working holiday in celebration of the Ninoy Aquino Day. The holiday was created by Republic Act 9256 commemorating the assassination of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO/Greggy Jiggs P. Senados)
