ASEAN- PCOO Roadshow Rolls Off at The Summer Capital of the Philippines

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar will lead an information- education campaign focusing on the how the government works through various programs on February 3 and 4 in Baguio.

Dubbed the 2017 ASEAN-PCOO Roadshow, this event will focus on Philippines chairmanship of the 2017 Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) 2017, Freedom of Information, and Presidential Task Force on Media Security.

As the government’s communication arm, PCOO is spearheading the IEC campaign on the country’s hosting of ASEAN 2017.

The roadshow features two fora on February 3, a multi – sectoral forum at Hotel Elizabeth in the morning and a youth/communicators forum at the Benguet Electric Cooperative Conference Hall in the afternoon.

PIA CAR Director Helen Tibaldo said that the Multi-sectoral forum will start at about 8:30 in the morning.

The event will begin with a cultural group meeting the Guest of Honor, Secretary Andanar at the entrance of the Hotel Elizabeth, with gongs, dancing the healing and unity dance going into the conference venue. Director Tibaldo added that during the Youth/Communicators Forum in the afternoon, will be highlighted by the launching of the ASEAN, Me and My Community writing contest.

In the forum, Department of Foreign Affairs Director Florida Ann Camille Mayo will present the country’s chairmanship of ASEAN 2017 while the Freedom of Information will be presented by PCOO Undersecretary Kristian Ablan.

Usec Jose Joel Sy Egco, Executive Director of the Presidential Task Force on Media Security will tackle Administrative Order No. 1 and the Protection of Journalists while Princess Pebbles Duque and Carlos Munda will discuss New Media Communications for Participatory Governance. PCOO Asst. Secretary Marie Rafael – Banaag will present Development and Formulation of Domestic and Foreign information and News and Print Platform. In between of the two events, Sec. Andanar and other PCOO officials will meet Baguio media and national correspondents in a Kapihan Forum.

On February 4 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon, the Secretary together with Philippine Information Agency Deputy Director Gregorio Angelo Villar, Baguio Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Congressman Mark Go will grace the launching of the PIA ASEAN Information Kiosk at SM City Baguio. On the same day, Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella will spearhead Project 181 Days: Workshop on Presidential Messaging and Communication for Social Media, Journalists and Media Workers.
