Do you eat to feed your emotions? We’re all guilty to have given in to emotional eating at some point in our life. Emotions like sadness, anger or even happiness sometimes influences our eating habits. For example, when you’re sad, your brain compels you to grab on to food to make you feel better.

Occasionally, emotional eating may not seem like a problem but when this becomes a habit, it can soon lead to overeating. Therefore it is important to watch out for these warning signs of emotional eating:

  • You feel the need to eat every time you’re stressed.
  • When you feel sad/lonely/angry etc. you subconsciously reach out for food.
  • Comfort foods like chocolates, cakes, cookies, ice cream make you feel better.
  • Your sudden out of the blue food cravings must be complied to or you feel restless.
  • There is an obvious emotional dependency on food which makes you happy.
  • When you’re not eating, you look forward to eating and when you’re eating you feel most content.
  • Sometimes you think about food even though you’re fully satiated
  • You have a constant struggle with weight loss.
