AirAsia Philippines CEO Captain Dexter Comendador said, “We are thrilled to offer our signature low fares to mark our first two direct flights to Indonesia starting January next year. AirAsia will continue to bring the Philippines closer to our neighbouring cities within the Asean region and beyond via inter-Asean connectivity and massive network.”

AirAsia is the only airline that directly services all ten Asean countries with established operations in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

“The AirAsia Group carried 13.4 million people within ASEAN last year and we aim to continue delivering only the best service and widest connectivity,” Comendador added.

AirAsia’s Manila – Denpasar/Bali (IATA CODE: DPS) and Manila – Jakarta (IATA CODE: CGK) will operate daily starting January next year while the airline is also set to start Manila – Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon (IATA CODE: SGN) on 17 November with flights every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Jakarta is the perfect place for the shopaholic, adventurer and food hunters. For great finds like Batik, local handicrafts, go to Thamrin City. This mixed-use complex has a shopping mall that is frequently visited by shoppers. If you want to brush up on the country’s history, The National Monument or Monas, located at the centre of Merdeka Square, was built to commemorate Indonesia’s independence. Kota Tua (also known as Batavia) is the original downtown area of Jakarta which boasts of many picture worthy spots.

To complete one’s Jakarta experience, it is a must to sample Jakarta’s mouthwatering food offerings. Enjoy a variety of Sate and their flavorful Nasi Uduk – a Betawi style steamed rice cooked in coconut milk which can be widely found across the country. Another must-try specialty is Indonesia’s meatball and noodles soup called, Bakso.

Bali on the other hand, despite the island’s small size, has long been a popular tourist destination for travelers who love the water, nature, culture, food and nightlife.

Bali is also home to amazing places such as the famous Uluwatu Temple which boasts of a breathtaking view of the blue sea, Mount Batur which offers the ultimate sunrise shot, and Kuta & Seminyak beaches where you can find great surf spots, bars and clubs. It is also the best place to achieve the perfect tan.

Make sure not to leave Bali without indulging in some of their local fare. One of their famous dishes that one should try is Babi Guling – white rice served with roast pig, stuffed with spices and vegetables. Also try out Bebek and Ayam Betutu, an iconic Balinese cuisine which consists of a whole chicken/duck stuffed with traditional spices and baked for 6-7 hours.
