Accountant Denies Delay

Following the blame of Talisay City administrator John Eyre delos Reyes, city accountant Viluzminda Villarante has denied that her office is the cause of the delay in the release of pays of City Hall workers.

“Please spare the accounting office for any delay of any transaction. I never allowed my staff for the client to wait for their transaction beyond a maximum of five minutes,” Villarante said.

Villarante’s statement came after Delos Reyes blamed Villarante’s office and three others for the long waiting line at the City Hall every payday. Delos Reyes also pinpointed human resource officer Bathan, city budget officer Edgar Mabunay, and city treasurer Emma Macuto as the reasons for the long queue, and asked them to explain why they could not resolve the problem.

Villarante said the release usually takes less than 20 minutes if the worker is able to present the right documents, like his identification card and others.

Villarante believed Delos Reyes just wanted to put the blame to them, when in fact it was the present administration who hired more than 2,000 job order workers on top of the more than 200 regular ones, which has added to the number of people who have to queue up at the Cash Division twice a month.

She said Delos Reyes, son of Mayor Johnny, a Liberal Party member, just wanted to get rid of all department heads who were hired by the mayor’s predecessor. She added the mayor apparently has his rivals in politics, and he (de los Reyes) is doing it slowly through pinpointing.
