Capitol Doctors, Medical Team Serve Over 500 Indigent Patients in Badian
In keeping with its promise to bring health services closer to the people, the Cebu Provincial Government, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO), conducted a five-day medical-surgical mission at the Badian District Hospital on Aug. 20 to 24.
“Ang medical-surgical caravan importante kaayo kay dako kini’g tabang sa mga lumolupyo sa matag lungsod ilabina niadtong dili maka afford sa pagpatambal sa pribadong hospital sa dakbayan sa Sugbu,” said Badian District Hospital chief of hospital Dr. Maria Gem Theresa Rabuya.
The series of medical activities served over 500 underprivileged patients who availed themselves of the minor or major surgeries like removal of cysts, thyroidectomy, hysterectomy, as well as other services like eye examinations, blood sugar, blood pressure monitoring and distribution of free medicines.
“Magpasalamat ko ni Gov. Davide ug Vice. Gov. Magpale nga ma-operahan na gyud akong bogon na libre,” said 62-year-old Eduardo Pielago, a farmer who hails from Barangay Mindanao, Malabuyoc town. Pielago, who has endured the lump in his neck for over three years was taken to the Cebu Provincial Hospital-Carcar for his scheduled major surgery along with nine other patients.
Under the administration of Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale, providing quality healthcare access is a top priority under the Six-Key Development Agenda.
Davide encouraged Cebuanos in the province to avail themselves of the free medical-surgical services offered by the Capitol.
