The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is eyeing more than a thousand participants for this year’s 7th Fun Run which will kick off the 118th Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service in September.

In today’s Kapihan sa Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Cebu, CSC in Region 7 discussed the activities schduled for the anniversary next month.

CSC Regional Director Editha Luzano said they hope to increase the number of participants this year to have more funds for the Pondong Pamana Lingkod Bayani Program (PLBi).

PLBi, Luzano said, is a corporate social responsibility of CSC, which gives plaques of recognition and scholarship grants to family members and survivors of public servants who died in the line of duty.

“We also give a one-time financial assistance of P100,000,” Luzano said.

Prolaine Daclan, CSC7 Chief Human Resource Specialist, said there were at least a thousand participants in the fun run last year.

Some of the beneficiaries of the funds raised from the fun run were the two members of the Special Action Force 44 who were killed in Mindanao.

The categories with their respective registration fees are 40-kilometer run at P350 and 7-kilometer run at P400.

Those who want to join can register online, however, payment should be made in person at their office in Barangay Sudlun, Cebu City.

The venue of the fun run is at the Central Command Grounds at 6:00 am on September 1.

Registration period runs from August 1 to 15.

“Government employees who will join are granted half-day or four hours of compensatory time off,” Luzano said.

This year’s theme of the celebration is “Lingkod Bayani: Maka-diyos, Makatao, Makabayan”.

It is meant to remind the civil servants of the important role of exemplifying love of God and country, building a citizen-centric government, and promoting compassion or “malasakit” in the public service for the Filipino people, its number one client. (fcc/PIA7-Cebu)
