RK Re-Elects New CRC Officers

Challenged to awaken the “natutulog na Community Radio Council (CRC)”, CTU- Barili’s Nutriskwela Community Radio initiated the re-organization of their Radio Council during its 1st Quarter CRC Meeting on 14 March 2018 at the 2nd Floor, Administrative Building, CTU- Barili Campus, Barili, Cebu.

Thirty-four (34) participants composed of representatives from the Municipal Nutrition Committee particularly LGU- Barili, PNP- Barili, MDRMMC, MSWD, DepEd and CTU-Barili. They were convened together with NNC 7 and members of Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 (MIND 7), NNC 7’s media network, who gave technical assistance.

NNC 7 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Parolita A. Mission, in her message during the re-orientation session, stressed the importance of CRC in managing the operations of the community radio. Dr. Mission also encouraged the members to maximize the station to broadcast their programs and advocacies for the rest of the Barilinians.

Ms. Mary Jane C. Pañares of LGU- Barili was elected as the chairperson, Mr. Ronald Panugaling of DepEd- Barili as the Vice-Chair, Ms. Jill Gabales of CTU- Barili as the Secretary, Ms. Imelda Basalo of MSWD as the treasurer, and Mr. Julius Basallo of CTU- Barili and Ms. Jocelyn Castro of RHU- Barili as the PRO.

MIND 7 immediate past president Mr. Raul H. Roxas also provided the station’s radio personnel with basic hands-on radio techniques in handling radio production particularly recording and audio edits. Mr. Roxas along with other MIND 7 members also suggested possible radio format for the CRC and Radyo Kahimsug’s station personnel to consider as well as other strategies to promote the station and its advocacies through other medium.

At the end of the meeting, newly elected CRC chair Ms. Pañares thanked the council for putting their trust in her and vowed to do her best along with her co-officers and the rest of the members to lead Radyo Kahimsug to be active like how it used to before.

Radyo Kahimsug will begin its campaign for a much stronger CRC with the support of the rest of the community and the leadership of the newly elected officials. //NVS (www.nnc.gov.ph)
