Congressman Rodrigo “Bebot” Abellanosa of Cebu City’ south district on Saturday pledged to grant 30 slots of scholars to Cebu Media Practitioners (CAMP) Inc., on the school opening of 2015 school year.

Abellanosa, one of the Board of Directors of CAMP, made his pledge before CAMP new set of officers who took oath of office last Saturday night at the PAGCOR entertainment hall, in Park Mall, Mandaue City.

Abellanosa also set the 30 scholars to study at Asian College of Technology (ACT) in Cebu City, with P16,000 scholarship grant to each student per year.

Aside from Abellanosa, other donors were Atty. Levi Baligod and wife Malot Baligod who pledged P30,000; Congressman Pastor “Jun” Alcover of ANAD Partylist, P10,000; Ging Montesclaros of Bio-Troff Herbal Products, P5,000; and Engr. Joemarie A. Arib, P5,000.

Earlier, CAMP President Jun Arigo assured its officers and members to open a CAMP Scholarship Program (CSP) as his legacy for them to remember him every now and then.

“This is the legacy I’ve promised to my co-officers and members of CAMP, as everlasting benefit of their children, and even to the children of non CAMP members in case there are still enough slots available for them”, Arigo said.

Arigo, during his speech prior to the induction of all CAMP new set of officers, expressed statement over the failure of his co-media members to visit him at the hospital after he was shot wounded by an unidentified armed man last year at the north reclamation area mall’s parking area.

Meanwhile, Abellanosa on his part said that even he has no more Priority Development Assistance Funds (PDAP) in Congress, but being an owner of ACT he is always willing to accommodate the children of CAMP members for
scholarship.

Abellanosa also believed that education is an everlasting gift to the poor but deserving students, because the same would redound to the beneficiaries’ children, and their children’s children.

Abellanosa landed to his position now in congress after he won on last May 2013 elections.

Being also a broadcaster, Abellanosa said this is high time for him to extend help to his fellow media members who through their meager income have able to send their children to school.
