US downplays latest North Korean nuclear threat

The US declared that there is no imminent danger of a North Korean nuke going off any time soon, this following North Korea’s latest threat of “cutting-edge, smaller, lighter and more diversified” nuclear attack on the US.

According to State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland, North Korea’s threat of a nuclear strike is just the latest of its many aggressive statements. Nuland also declared that the tension between North Korea and the US “does not need to get hotter” than it already is.

Her statement is the first from the Obama administration since North Korean military force declared that “the moment of explosion is fast approaching” early Wednesday.

The US also attempts to decrease the tension by keeping a vigilance stance in response to North Korea’s statements.

A US Defense Department official said that the US is trying to turn the volume down as to not amp things up with North Korea.

Meanwhile, North Korea’s missile and launch components have been moved to its east coast but according to South Korean Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin, this medium-range missile is not capable of reaching the US.

He also said that the North has moved the missile for a test launch and it doesn’t appear to be aimed at the US.
