MCCI Holds Business Summit 2013
With the high-velocity change occurring in the world today, there is not any better remedy but to adopt change–this is not just to embrace it, but to engage it. Thus, is this year’s theme of the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (MCCI) Mandaue Business Month celebration.
The global economy is in a major shakeup, technology has never evolved this fast and business competition is tight and becoming global and dynamics in the workplace have become complicated–these are just some of the most evident change in our community.
“Engaging Change: Be Fit. Be Connected. Be Ahead”. MCCI, in its flagship event, the Business Summit on August 16, is a perfect place to learn how to engage change with varied reputable speakers who are experts in their respective fields, giving insightful teachings of the current issue.
Among them are Senator Bam Aquino who shall tackle “The Road to Competitiveness: A Policy Agenda: Growing Your Business and Competing Globally”, Jacqueline Alexis Thng, chief executive officer of Lexis Branding, Singapore, who will talk on “Change Or To Be Changed: Why Brands Fail and How Leaders Become Winners”, John Philip Orbeta, managing director and head of Corporate Resources Group, Ayala Corporation, on “Managing Multi-Generation In The Workplace”, and Norio Usuio, senior country economist, Asian Development Bank, who will discuss about “Taking The Right Road To Inclusive Growth”.
Thng is one of Asia’s most experienced brand strategists and consultants. She has over 20 years of experience in the industry globally, and led and consulted on numerous diverse range of projects in the Philippines in the likes of top brands Flawless, Penshoppe & Oxygen, Belo Medical Group, Goldilocks and Bench. Branding projects internationally also include Vertu (world’s first luxury mobile phone), Maybank Malaysia, China Airline Taiwan, Tamagotchi Bandai Japan, Sara Lee, Keppel Corporation and Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore.
Usui on the other hand, has current research topics in Philippines Country Office on structural transformation and long-term growth performance, public support (industrial policy) for industrialization, and policy options for tax reforms among many others. He has also several publications in economic journals such as World Development, Singapore Economic Review and Cambridge Journal of economics. His latest release is “Taking teh Right Road for Inclusive Growth: Industrial Upgrading and Diversification in the Philippines”.
Aquino also was elected as senator in this year’s May elections. He is the youngest senator in the 16th Congress of the Republic of the Philippines. At 25, he was appointed as the chairperson of the National Youth Commission, the primary national policy-making body for Filipino youth. After his stint in government service, Bam co-founded the social enterprise The Hapinoy Program, a program that helps lift poor Filipinos out of poverty through micro-finace and micro-enterprise support.
Other speakers are Tita Datu Puangco, chairperson and chief executive officer of Ancilla Enterprise Development Consulting, a Philippine leader in training and organization development with an ASEAN reach. Nader Anvari, managing director and co-founder of FACIEN LLC, a digital & direct marketing provider, will also have his thoughts during the Business Summit Michael Angelo Lobrin and Professor Antonio Del Carmen, PhD, will share their insights on topics “Mastering Self, Opportunity and Set Up In Order To BE Successful In Business and In Life” and “Entrepreneurship: A Roadmap to Inclusive Growth”, respectively.
All these and more for the summit. Buisness Summit event Chairperson Stanley Go said that the objective of the summit is to prepare the businesses in Cebu. There will be eight speakers all in all, and 400 participants are expected to join, a convergence ranging from varied sectors, clubs, chambers, and even organizations from outside Cebu are anticipated to be in the summit.
