Google Unveils New Nexus 7 Tablet

After a long road of speculation and rumors, Google has officially announced its Nexus 7 2 (or Nexus 7 2013) before showing it to a small group of media outlets in San Francisco, California.

The new tablet comes with the latest version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. It packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon™ S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM.

It features wireless charging, 4G connectivity, a screen that offers 323 pixels per inch, and is thinner and lighter than its predecessor.

Google claimed the screen made it the world’s highest resolution tablet, comparing favorably to the iPad’s Retina Display, which offers 264PPI.

As for the battery, Google is promising 9 hours of HD video playback and 10 hours of web browsing, numbers that should be competitive with the iPad. And for the first time, that battery will support wireless charging. It’s a major update to Google’s small tablet, but it costs a bit more than last year’s model. The 16GB model will cost $229 or P9 920, the 32GB model will come in at $269 or P11 653, and the 32GB LTE model will cost $349 or P15 118.
