8 Towns in Cebu Earn Seal of Good Local Governance

Eight municipalities in Cebu have earned the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Cebu chapter president Democrito Diamante said these are the towns of Dumanjug, Argao, Bantayan, Dalaguete, Malabuyoc, Medellin, Oslob and San Remigio.

DILG 7 director Rene Burdeos said these municipalities are entitled to Php3 million each in incentive from the Performance Challenge Fund.

Burdeos said the towns can use the money to finance a project of their choice.

In a message to the LMP, DILG Secretary Mel Sarmiento said, “I know that each of you has worked relentlessly to gain the seal, which we have always sought for.

”It is my hope that this will inspire you more to strive for progress through a transparent and a more truthful public service,” Sarmiento said.

Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III congratulated the mayor of the eight municipalities for earning the SGLG.

Davide said his include downloading funds to the municipalities which can implement the projects they want. (PNA) LDV/EB/RSM
