Over 500 Individuals Benefit from Capitol’s Regular Medical Operation

Day to day, ninety-year old Marciano Figuracion walks from Barangay Gawi, Oslob to Boljoon town, an eight-kilometer travel distance, just to ask for food and water from relatives and friends.

But when he passed by the covered court of Barangay South Granada, Boljoon last Nov. 17, the Cebu Capitol staff saw the medical attention he needs.

“Sakit ang akong buku-buko ug abaga kay ka-napu nako mahuog (nalup-og),” said the slightly stooped 5-feet tall man wearing a soiled flowered shirt, who quickly registered for the mission.

Figuracion was told that all his vital signs and blood pressure were normal. Medical professionals from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) gave him a month-long supply of vitamins while the personnel from Vice Gov Agnes A. Magpale’s office ushered him to a barber fix over his disheveled salt-and-pepper hair.

Figuracion was among the 527 residents of Barangay South Granada in Boljoon who benefited Capitol’s regular medical services personally attended by Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Magpale.

The medical personnel from the Provincial Government and the AFP Central Command joined hands to give free medical consultations and check-ups to some 61 babies, 74 adults and 42 senior citizens.

The PHO’s dentist also gave 39 residents free check-ups and tooth extractions inside their dental clinic bus.

While some beneficiaries were treated to lugaw, other find optical relief after some 70 patients underwent eye check-ups with free eyeglasses.

Hair specialists from Rose Foundation also provided free hair makeover services to women and haircut for men.
