5 Armed Men Arrested in Dumanjug

Five armed men were arrested by the Dumanjug police yesterday (Thursday) afternoon in Barangay Pawa, Dumanjug town.

Authorities reportedly received information that the suspects were goons of some politicians in the area. Police identified the suspects as Bobby de la Cerna, 24; Leomar Angana, 25; George Angana, (Leomar’s cousin), 37; Roel Gutana, 22; and Jimmy de la Cerna, 19.

According to the police, it was only Dela Cerna of Barangay Malayahay they were after but when they were to arrest him, he was with the four others, who upon frisking, were found to have in them two pieces KG9 pistols with two magazines and 20 bullets, a .45 pistol with magazine loaded with three bullets, a .357 revolver with four bullets, a hand grenade and two knives.

Meanwhile, Liberal Party Vice-mayoralty candidate Efren Gica, who was alleged to have hired the group, denied the accusation, saying he does not have armed men tagging along with him in any of his campaign sorties.
