Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma has disclosed that some 14,000 delegates, 4,000 of them from abroad, have confirmed their attendance in 51st International Eucharistic Congress to be held in Cebu next month.

Palma said 20 cardinals and 130 bishops have also committed to attend the event, which will be held on Jan. 24 to 31.

He reminded Cebuanos that holding the 51st IEC in Cebu is both a blessing and a privilege.

With more than one million Catholics expected to converge in Cebu during the Eucharistic activities, Palma urged the public to be patient, especially when activities cause traffic jams in some parts of Metro Cebu.

He reminded Catholics that the 51st IEC is not just a gathering, but also a celebration of Jesus’s presence in the Holy Eucharist.

He also reminded Catholics to put Christ in their hearts despite problems, trials and tribulations that happen in life.

“If we don’t know where we are going or we have lost our way, Jesus is the way,” Palma said. (PNA) SCS/EB/RSM
