125,525 Passengers Pass Through Cebu South Bus Terminal During Long Weekend

Some 125,525 passengers passed through the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) during the long All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day weekend, an official said Wednesday.

Chief of the CSBT security management, Alberto Joey Herrera Jr., said the number of passengers was based on the terminal fees they received and the total of 3,318 bus trips they have dispatched from October 29 to November 1.

“This is the most we’ve ever recorded,” Herrera said.

He noted that they were happy that despite the huge turnout of passengers, they were able to manage the crowd well and prevented any untoward incident from happening.

”Our terminal staff, who have been here for the longest, were also impressed that there had never been any commotion for the first time,” Herrera said.

“If you just strictly implement rules and make the passengers understand the importance of these rules, you’ll see that the passengers won’t have a problem obeying,” he said.

Herrera said passengers passing through the CSBT on their way to the southern part of Cebu were very cooperative despite the intermittent rains.

“They behaved well and obeyed the rules we’ve implemented here without raising questions,” he said.

Herrera said they were also ready to receive the same number of passengers, as those who went to their hometowns during the long weekend began trickling back to the city on Wednesday.

Officials of the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) also said passengers coming mostly from Bohol and Leyte provinces have begun to arrive at the city’s Piers 2 and 3 on Wednesday. (PNA) CVL/EB/EDS
