Due to the rise of COVID-19 cases, 11 localities in Cebu Province will be under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) with heightened measures to help curb the risk of infection.

The localities under MECQ on 12:01 AM, August 11, 2021, are towns of Samboan, Sibonga, Argao, Cordova, Oslob, Liloan, Consolacion, Minglanilla, and the cities of Talisay, Carcar, and Naga.

This was announced in a virtual meeting led by the Cebu Provincial Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

The mayors of the affected localities have already announced the new quarantine classifications in their respective areas including Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas.

“Just came from a meeting with Gov Gwen Garcia. She will be executing an Executive Order within the day on placing certain LGU’s under the province of Cebu under MECQ with heightened restrictions and their respective protocols. Talisay City is one of the 11 LGU’s under the province that will be placed under MECQ with heightened restrictions. This will be effective tomorrow, August 11 at 12:01 am. We will adopt MECQ protocols based on IATF guidelines and Gov Gwen’s Executive order,” Gullas said in his Facebook post.

The governor is said to issue an executive order within the day to formalize the guidelines for the implementation of MECQ in the said localities.

To recall, the entire Cebu Province including its independent cities, Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue City was placed under MECQ but was reverted to Modified General Community Quarantine after it was evaluated by the IATF through an appeal from Governor Gwen Garcia. (ASC)
