Published

on

A paleo breakfast bowl is an excellent start to your morning. It’s simple to make and will keep you feeling full. You know that you’re getting the best start to the day to support your needs and keep your body healthy.

Now it just means creating your paleo breakfast bowl. There are so many paleo recipes and ingredients that it can be confusing and overwhelming to create a simple breakfast. This is especially the case when you’re just starting the diet, or you want to expand your recipes and include new foods.

We all need variety and excitement when it comes to good. Don’t panic! We’re right here to help you with your paleo breakfast bowl. Here’s a way to get started and enjoy your meals while protecting your body.

What Is a Paleo Breakfast Bowl?

Your paleo breakfast bowl is just what it sounds. It’s a paleo breakfast that is in one bowl. There’s no need for multiple plates, and you can eat with a spoon or fork.

The benefit of a bowl is that you can grab and eat. You know how easy it was to eat cereal while walking around. Even if you haven’t eaten cereal, you’ve seen people do it on TV. And you’ve had soup and other bowl-filled recipes that make it easier to eat and get the kids ready for a morning.

With a bowl, you also have a little more control over your portions. There’s less risk of overflowing your plate or piling food up as high as possible since it’s more likely to spill over the side of the bowl.

So, now it’s time to get started with these paleo breakfast bowl ideas.

Start With Your Leftovers from the Night Before

There’s this common misconception that there are certain foods suitable for breakfast and others for after the clock strikes noon. Well, these misconceptions are limiting the foods that we will eat on a morning and cause problems in the choice that we have. We forget there are so many healthy and delicious paleo ingredients in the fridge just waiting for us to eat them.

This is certainly the case with many types of meat. We tend to leave chicken, pork, and beef for a different meal. They’re used for lunches and dinners, and sometimes they’re used for quick and healthy snacks. Why don’t we use them for breakfast?

One of the best breakfast bowls you can make on the paleo diet is a leftover bowl. Pull out the plates or tubs of meat that you have and create a fuller meal with them.

Just how do you do that? Well, you can put together a salad of vegetables. Throw together some grated carrot and sliced red onion to add the crunch to the start of the day.

The benefit of this type of paleo breakfast bowl is that you’re starting your day with plenty of protein. Protein will help to build your muscles while breaking down slowly in your body. You’ll feel much fuller throughout the day, helping you to keep going until lunch time.

Yes, this type of breakfast bowl will take some getting used to. It’s just about changing your mindset on what you should and shouldn’t eat at a certain time of the day. The rules are arbitrary. You can change them and enjoy something that you know is good for you. If you really don’t want to worry about what people think, just don’t tell them what you had for breakfast! The only ones who are genuinely interested are those who are considering the paleo lifestyle; those who want some ideas to help them get started and create variety.

Top Your Breakfast Salad with a Fried Egg

If you don’t fancy pulling the meat out for breakfast, then you need to find another way to get your protein. This is where eggs are extremely handy.

Eggs get an undeserved bad reputation, because of the old belief that all cholesterol is bad for you. The truth is that eggs are full of good cholesterol, which will help to protect your arteries and keep the bad cholesterol levels to a minimum. When you fry them dry or use olive or coconut oil, you will get rid of the unhealthy fats that tend to be added to the diet!

Either do your eggs sunny side up or over easy for this paleo breakfast bowl. Poached eggs are good too since you can cook them without any fats at all and without worrying about them sticking!

Make your breakfast salad any way that you want. Try some spinach, cucumbers, and tomatoes mixed with some berries and pomegranate seeds. Yes, fruit and vegetables work extremely well together and give your salad that sweet kick that you’ve been craving. When mixed in a bowl, you’ll find it all much easier to eat.

Top it off with your runny egg. The benefit of a runny egg is that the yolk will add the moisture to your fruit and vegetables without wishing that you had the yogurts and mayo that you ate before the days of the paleo diet.

This is also delicious when you add some dill and lemon juice on top.

While the protein from the egg is good for you, the extra fiber that you get from all the fruits and vegetables will also help to keep you feeling fuller for longer. Your digestive system will thank you for the support at the same time.

Make a Sweet Potato Burrito in a Bowl

This breakfast bowl keeps the egg, but you change the vegetables that you use. This is best when you have a spiralizer for the potatoes, so you get to make some fake noodles. It will look like you’re enjoying something that you did long before you started the paleo diet, but taste so much better. On top of that, you have the benefit of getting rid of the processed, unhealthy carbs from your diet.

Breakfast burritos are popular around the world. Wait, don’t they include tortilla wraps? Well, yes, but we’re going to make a slight variation. Remember this is in a bowl, so there’s no need for the tortilla anyway.

You can add some meat to this paleo breakfast bowl if you want. Chicken or beef tend to be the better options, but you honestly don’t need them. This is super filling with just the vegetables and your egg. Keep your meat for later in the day.

The avocado will help you get some healthy fats in your diet. Yes, your body needs some fats, especially since you’re reducing a number of carbs you eat considerably on the paleo diet.

Ingredients
1 sweet potato
1tbsp olive oil
Eggs
8 egg whites
½ to 1 avocado, diced
½ cup of salsa
Cilantro for garnishing

Method
Spiralize your potatoes raw
Heat some of the oil in a pan and add the potato until they start to soften, seasoning to tasteIn a pot, heat the water until it starts to simmer and poach your two whole eggs
Scramble your egg whites in a separate panIn a bowl, mix the potato noodles and salsa, mixing well
Add in the scrambled egg whites and mix completely
Divide your egg and potatoes among two bowls, topping with the avocado and cilantro
Finish off with the poached eggs on top
Once you finish this off, you will not feel hungry for the rest of the morning. If you really worry about snacking, make sure you have some high fiber and high protein nuts on hand (or something similar if you’re allergic).

Start Your Day International with Chorizo

Why not add a bit of international flavoring to the start of your day? A chorizo breakfast bowl is definitely the way to go. This is one of those breakfasts for when you need variety and excitement on a morning. I love it on a Sunday morning when we’re all eating together, and nobody must rush anywhere.

You will need some beef mince to work this together, too. Make sure you choose some lean beef—get rid of as much fat as possible. This is the best way to get the healthiest start of the day. You could try with some pork or turkey mince, but they just don’t work as well as beef with the chorizo.

Like the paleo breakfast bowl above, the avocados will give you some healthy fats to the start of the day. Not only will these healthy fats protect your arteries and give you energy, but they will also break down slowly to add to that feeling of being full.

The downside to this? You’ll want more and more in your day.

Ingredients
1lb chorizo, ground
1lb beef, ground
5oz spinach
2 avocados, diced
8 eggs
4 dollops of salsa
4tsp adobo spice

Method
Cook the chorizo and beef with 2tsp of the adobo spice together until cooked through, adding the spinach half way through
The chorizo should look a little crispy when finished, and you’ll want to put it to one side
Cook your eggs the way you like in the pan you used for the chorizo
Lay the chorizo and beef in four bowls and lay the eggs on the top
Add the avocado, salsa, and rest of the adobo spice, seasoning to taste
While this recipe uses fried eggs, you can also make your eggs poached or hard boils. It really is up to you. This is one of those breakfasts that can be made the night before and packed up. Making hard boiled eggs will help to make them last longer overnight.

Something Quick, Sweet, and Easy

What about when you don’t want a savory paleo breakfast bowl? Well, there are other options available, and one of those is a quick and easy fruity breakfast bowl. This recipe uses a range of berries, but you can pick your favorites if you’d prefer. I love some strawberries and blueberries and find that they work together perfectly.

Don’t forget to top this off with some chia seeds. These little black seeds add an extra energy and filling boost to your morning meal.

It takes just 10 minutes to make on a morning, but you can do it overnight and store in the fridge. It’s also one of the easiest breakfast bowls to grab and go.

Ingredients
1 cup of your choice of berries
1 banana, sliced
2tbsp walnuts, chopped
2tsp chia seeds
2tsp hemp seeds
¼ cup of coconut milk

Method
Mix the berries, bananas, and walnuts in a bowl, combining well
Sprinkle with the seeds
Pour in the milk
If you are going to make this overnight, keep the milk separate. If you pour the milk over the fruit overnight, the fruit will soak it all in, and it will be soggy.

Add Some Coffee to Your Paleo Breakfast Bowls

Chocolate shake with sauce and marshmallows

Remember right at the start when I said we have this misconception that we can only eat certain foods at a certain time? Well, this is another breakfast bowl that challenges that way of thinking. Not only am I getting you to add coffee to your bowl—we’ll get to that in a minute—but to add chocolate to the start of your morning.

Yes, you can have chocolate on the paleo diet. The trick is to getting the right type of chocolate.

As for the coffee? I know you likely raised your eyebrows at the idea of putting it in your breakfast. We’re so used to having coffee on the side. Well, you have coffee in some puddings, so why not in your breakfast bowl? It’s a great way to boost the energy levels on a morning.

This is a breakfast bowl that needs to be made the night before. It takes 8 hours to prepare fully and be ready!

Ingredients
½ a cup of coffee, brewed and chilled
1 cup of almond milk
1tbsp of almond butter
1tsp of vanilla extract
2tbsp chocolate protein powder
1tbsp cocoa powder
1tbsp maple syrup
¼ cup of chia seeds

Method
Blend everything except the chia seeds together
Place in a resealable jar and add the chia seeds
Ensure the jar is sealed and then shake
Refrigerate for 3+hours
To serve, you can heat the paleo friendly porridge in the microwave if you want, but this isn’t a necessity. Top with some banana, coconut flakes, and paleo friendly granola. You can also add some berries and nuts if you want.

Start Your Day Off Right

It’s time to challenge the way you think about your breakfast. Focus on the best paleo ingredients to give yourself the best start to your day. You can opt for meat, coffee in meals, and chocolate. It’s all about choosing foods that are going to fill you up quickly, keep you feeling that way throughout the day, and help support your body.

Make up your own paleo breakfast bowls on a morning—some of them you can do the night before. You and your kids will love to have something new and exciting as a way to start your mornings.
