The COVID-19 pandemic has affected a lot of people in regards to their health and livelihood. It has brought enough damage to the economy as well that even small businesses that rely on online selling have been hit with the difficulty of money transactions. In comes, the new wave of digital payments and Paymaya solutions is a big player in this scene with more small business owners using the app. MSMEs outside Metro Manila are now adapting to the new normal by using digital payment technology.

The volume of transactions from regional MSMEs quadrupled during this year’s second quarter compared to last year during the same period. This is according to PayMaya’s enterprise data statistics. PayMaya solutions allow its users to accept a wide variety of digital payment methods: via QR or number linked to a PayMaya wallet, bank transfers, card payments, and other e-wallet payments.

“The demand for digital payment solutions continues to grow, and we’re very excited to see more MSMEs outside Metro Manila use PayMaya solutions in their businesses. Going digital and cashless not only expands their market reach but also provides them with a safer and more efficient way to do business,” said Shailesh Baidwan, PayMaya President.

Promoting digital payments to MSMEs in the regions

Last June 30, PayMaya collaborated with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for the weekly CTRL + BIZ: Reboot Now! Regional Zoom Shows in order to expand the use of digital payment for MSMEs in different regions.

PayMaya’s partnership with DTI branches to various MSME programs and campaigns such as PayMaya’s Sulong Negosyo Program. This program is conducted to aid in the e-commerce for MSMEs with digital payment technology.

Business-in-a-box payment solutions for MSMEs

PayMaya is playing its role in the digital transformation for money transactions of MSMEs with business-in-a-box solutions that can be beneficial to use for their online business or even through physical stores.

PayMaya’s Sulong Negosyo Program does not only help MSMEs with digital payment but also provides additional income opportunities for small business owners. PayMaya’s wide reach of digital payment allows MSMEs to send payment links through the use of social media such as Viber and Facebook Messenger and other platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.

There is also a PayMaya Checkout feature for MSMEs who have their own website. It allows MSMEs to accept credit, debit, prepaid cards, and e-wallet payments. For the MSMEs with physical stores, PayMaya One or PayMaya One Lite terminals and QR acceptance are there to be of service.

PayMaya has curated a digital payment ecosystem in the Philippines spanning its service to consumers, merchants, communities, and government.
