DOLE-10 Gears Up for 117th Labor Day Celebration
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Northern Mindanao has lined up various activities for the upcoming Labor Day celebration on May 1 with the theme, “Pagpupugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino.”
The celebration will kick off with a Holy Mass followed by the opening of the Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan (TNK) Livelihood and Business Fair at Limketkai Mall Rotunda, Skills Demo and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Enrollment at 2nd Floor Event Center of Limketkai Mall and Job Fair at the Limketkai Mall Atrium.
TNK aims to bring employment opportunities through entrepreneurship for workers in the informal sector.
Lawyer Joffrey Suyao, DOLE-10 director, said they invited DOLE and DTI-assisted livelihood projects to showcase their products so that the public may know if they cannot be accommodated through wage employment or have no interest in wage employment, there is an option for them to be entrepreneurs.
“If they become successful later, they, too, can help in the employment in their community,” he added.
Suyao further said they want to also capture senior high graduates with TESDA-10 providing not only skills demonstration but free TVET enrollment.
Around 52 private technical vocational institutions (TVIs) in Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental will be joining the TVET enrollment.
Six TVIs, on the other hand, will give the skills demo on facial care, motorcycle repair, baking, coffee-making, and dressmaking.
A DOLE Clinic/One-Stop Shop will also be available at the Atrium for various services to ensure speedy processing of the documentary requirements of applicants.
The PAG-IBIG Fund, Social Security System, and PhilHealth will accept membership applications; Philippine Statistics Authority on authentication of records; and Land Transportation Office on examinations inquiry and driver’s license inquiry.
Other services that will be offered are board exam application, initial registration, and renewal of license by the Professional Regulation Commission; legal assistance for OFWs by Philippine Overseas Employment Administration; SEnA requests for assistance and promotion of labor-management cooperation and grievance machinery programs by National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB); wages consultation and productivity training requests by Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB); basic occupational safety and health and construction safety and health trainings/schedules by Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC); Employees Compensation Commission (ECC) program benefits; legal inquiries by National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC); and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) reintegration program, social benefits, welfare case assistance, and e-card application, among others.
