Published

on

The Electronic Jeeps (E-jeep) have finally traveled the roads of Lapu-Lapu City on Sunday, April 21.

The E-jeeps were launched last February but operations were postponed due to the complications in documentation from Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-7) and Land Transportation Office (LTO-7).

Marvin Arias, Chairman of United Drivers Operators Transport Cooperative (UDOTCO), who is also the Administrator of E-jeeps said that only half of the 25 E-jeep units will be temporary used since the charging station is still being completed. The charging station situated at the back of a Gaisano Mactan in Baranga Pajo.

The minimum fare for the E-jeep is P8 and an additional P1 for the succeeding kilometer.

The current starting point of the E-jeeps will be at the back of the said department store and the trip will start from 5 in the morning until 10 in the evening.

Arias added that the E-jeeps will travel along National Highway in Barangay Mactan, Maribao, Marigondon, Basak and back to Pajo.

Meanwhile, the route in Cordova and Baranga Punta Engaño will be available as soon as the additional E-Jeep units will arrive.

The E-Jeep officials also cleared that the operation of E-Jeeps doesn’t mean that Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) and tricycle drivers will be left jobless but it is only part of the modernization program for the National Government.
