DPWH Completes 17 Rainwater Collection Systems
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Second District Engineering Office based in Roxas town has completed at least 17 Rainwater Collection System (RWCS) in different municipalities in its area of concern.
Engr. Reynato Ubina, head of DPWH Second District Engineering Office, said the 17 RCWS were installed in schools that do not have adequate access to water and sanitation facilities.
The total cost of the 17 RWCS installed in various schools is P3.4 million.
Ubina said the project is an innovative way to maximize the use of rainwater for sanitation purposes in the recipient-schools and in one public market including one in his office.
He said the completed RWCS projects were installed and located at Barucboc National High School in Quezon town; Benito Soliven National High School in Benito Soliven town; Mabini National High School in Gamu town; Malalinta National High School in San Manuel town; San Bonifacio Elementary School in Burgos town; San Mariano II Central Integrated School in San Mariano town; Lucban Elementary School, Matusalem National High School, Roxas West Central School, Luna-Rangayan Elementary School and Sinamar Elementary School – all in Roxas town; and at Villa Fugo Elementary School, Bagong Tanza Elementary School, Malasin Elementary School, and Camarunggayan Elementary School – all in Aurora town.
“Aside from the recipient-schools, RWCS units were also installed at the Mallig Public Market in Mallig and at the DPWH-ISDEO office located in Roxas,” Ubina said.
Ubina said the installation of RWCS is one way of storing the rainwater that are collected for sanitation and for watering ornamental plants around the schools especially during summer. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
