Davide, Magpale Mark Valentine’s Day with Project Launch, Cash Incentives Distribution in Cordova

Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale kicked-off Valentine’s Day in Cordova town by distributing at least P7.350 million in infrastructure and cash incentives for barangay workers.

The two Capitol top executives also distributed food packs and hygiene kits to a total of 3,324 senior citizens from the town’s 13 barangays. It was held in Barangay Cogon Covered Court.

Davide and Magpale said that the program for senior citizens dubbed as “Halad sa Gugma alang kang Lolo ug Lola” has been going on since 2013.

“Hinaot nalipay kamo niini among ginagmay nga pahalipay alang kaninyo,” the governor said.

“Sukad kami ni-asumir ni Junjun Davide, atong senior citizens nahatagan, way gipili,” Magpale added.

Magpale went on to share the accomplishments of the Province under their leadership that include the installation of new medical equipment in provincial hospitals, upgrading of district hospitals, various assistance provided to the farmers and fisherfolks, as well as the infrastructure projects implemented in the different parts of the province.

“Kami kung mosaad makit-an jud ninyo,” said Magpale.

From Barangay Cogon, the Capitol officials proceeded to the municipal gym for the distribution of the 2018 cash incentives to the 617 barangay workers. The total amount handed over to barangay nutrition scholars, daycare workers, tanods and lupon tagapamaya reached P1.206 million.

Davide and Magpale were joined by Cordova Mayor Mary Therese Sitoy-Cho, Vice Mayor Victor Tago III, Councilors Lemuel Pogoy, Allan Tiro and Cesario Muñez, Atty. Baldomero Estenzo and former Mandaue City councilor Editha Cabahug.

In her speech, Cho thanked the governor and the vice governor for the projects given to her town.

“Gipakita gyud nila ni gov ug vice gov unsa ang dakong gugma nila ninyo… Daghan kaayo’ng salamat gov ug vice gov sa mga gihatag ninyo nga proyekto dinhi sa Cordova,” Cho said.

Magpale thanked Cho for acknowledging the Capitol’s projects for Cordova.

The vice governor said that there is no truth to rumors that the distribution of cash incentives was stopped.

“Mangayo mi’g pasaylo nga nauwahi (ang pagpanghatag sa cash incentive sa Cordova) ug dili tinuod nga giundang,” she said, adding that in contrary it will be even increase this year.

“Dunay mga fake news. Mohangyo lang ko ninyo susiha usa ninyo una pa motuo,” she said.

Davide told the barangay workers to continue providing services to their respective barangays.

In the same event, Cordova officials awarded the top performing barangays under the Capitol’s Sugbo Kontra Droga (Sukod) program.

Barangay Ibabao received P20,000 after it secured the first place in Sukod program. It was followed by Barangays Poblacion and Buagsong, which won second and third places, respectively. Poblacion got P15,000, while Buagsong received P10,000.

Ten other barangays were given P5,000 as consolation prizes.

The cash prizes given to the barangays came from the Capitol after Cordova was recognized as one of the Gold Champion Partners of the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office for the Sukod program.

Infra projects

Davide and Magpale also led the inauguration of the 350-meter, newly-concreted Catarman-Bantayan-Poblacion Road, and the new faculty room and Technical-Vocational Livelihood Laboratory worth P1.144 million in Cordova National High School (CNHS).

Provincial Engineer Hector Jamora said the Cordova road project costs P5 million.

Magpale shared that the Province has been judicious in spending the Provincial Government’s money.

“I cannot count with my fingers now how many classroom buildings have been turned over,” said Magpale, stressing that education is one of the priorities of their administration under the Six-Key Development Program.

CNHS Principal Evelyn Malubay thanked the Cebu Provincial Government for providing them with a conducive facility for learning.

“Dili tinuod nga wala sila’y nahimo sa probinsya. Daghan kaayo sila’g natabang sama na aning mga scholarship. Kini tanan wa ni namo kalimti. Ang mga teachers kahibaw gyud ni sila sa inyong nahimo,” Cho said, recognizing the projects and programs initiated by the Provincial Government. (Cebu Provincial Gov’t)
