Hoax: SM Bomb Scare
A circulating text message via SMS and social media that an extremist group will try to detonate a bomb in one of the SM supermalls in Cebu is verified to be a hoax
According to the statement of SM Supermalls Senior Public Relations Manager, RJ Leduna to Cebu Association of City and Municipal Public Information Officers (CAOCAMPIO) that they have already released an official statement regarding the alleged bomb scare.
The said bomb scare was already circulating for three years and was verified as a hoax after an investigation made by SM Supermalls and the police.
Leduna said that SM maintains their security on alert to provide safety for its customers and tenants.
Moreover, Leduna said that there is no officer with that name that is connected to their company.
As of now the security of public places is on high alert after a bombing incident at the Jolo Cathedral that resulted to 27 deaths and 77 injured as of January 28, 2019. (ASC/GFB)
