Duterte Reiterates War on Drugs Continues
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte reminded local government units and law enforcement agencies of possible transport of illegal drugs when Panguil Bay Bridge will soon be completed.
During the groundbreaking of Panguil Bay Bridge on November 28, 2018 in Tubod, Lanao del Norte, the President shared illegal drugs may be easier to transport through the new bridge.
He emphasized that he will continue to be relentless in his war against drugs as he strongly remarked, “Once you go into drugs, you destroy my country. Once you feed my daughter and my son with drugs and they go crazy and you are destroying the next generation of Filipinos.”
The historic bridge, to be known as the longest in the Philippines will reduce travel time between Tangub City and Tubod, Lanao del Norte from more than two hours to seven minutes.
The bridge shall consist of two lanes spanning 15 meters and will be accessible to commuters and motorists for 24 hours.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar remarked that the bridge will hail economic and tourism development in the area as it will provide jobs to residents and attract various investors.
South Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong Man witnessed the event while representing the donor country.
Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda-Quibranza Dimaporo, First District Representative Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo, Second District Representative Abdullah D. Dimaporo, both of Lanao del Norte, as well as Town Mayor of Tubod Leoncio Bagol overwhelmingly thanked the President’s presence.
