The Visayan Electric Company puts a premium on employee involvement in its community
development efforts. This was demonstrated last October 3, 2018 when VECO Kaibigans distributed 300 relief bags to Barangay Hipodromo fire victims.

Contributions to VECO’s Leave for a Life Program and the VECO Employees Multipurpose
Cooperative (VEMCO) funded the relief operations, which was held at the Hipodromo Elementary
School, one of the designated evacuation centers in the barangay.

VECO’s Leave for a Life Program, according to HR Supervisor Connie Sosas, who initiated the
program, encourages employees to donate the monetary equivalent of their unused leaves for
charitable activities.

“By donating their unused leaves to the Leave for a Life Program, each and every VECO
employee can contribute, in their own way, to outreach activities. This is our way of showing that we feel responsible for the communities where VECO, our employer, operates,” she added.

VECO is the second largest electric utility in the Philippines. It serves the cities of Cebu,
Mandaue, Talisay, Naga and four municipalities of the greater part of Metro Cebu — Liloan,
Consolacion, Minglanilla and San Fernando. Since its establishment in February 25, 1905, VECO has been a partner in Cebu’s progress by advancing business and communities.
