Capitol Turns Over P58-Million Infra Projects in Tuburan
Bringing inclusive growth to the people requires building infrastructures that primarily address the problems of the marginalized and those living in the countryside.
With this in mind, Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale inaugurated around P58 million worth of infrastructure projects in the town of Tuburan northwest Cebu on Thursday, Oct. 6.
The Cebu Provincial Government also distributed P536,000 worth of agri-machineries to different farmer’s organizations.
“Atong gi-una ang pagtubag sa panginahanglanon sa atong mga kaigsuonang kabus sama sa mga mag-uuma tungod kay sila ang unang nanginahanglan. Ang Probinsya, uban ni Bise Gobernador Agnes Magpale, maningkamot na mahatod kaninyo ang batakang mga serbisyo,” Davide said.
The infrastructure projects turned over by Capitol include two farm-to-market roads (FMR), 10 evacuation centers, a trading post, a multi-purpose drying pavement and technical-vocational education center.
The evacuation centers have a total cost of P30 million with the Capitol giving out P7.5 million for their construction.
For the FMR, the Province shelled out P14.9 million for the over one-kilometer stretch in Barangay Kabangkalan and P10 million for a one-km pathway in Barangay Sumon.
Tuburan town received P2.6 million for the technical-vocational building while the Capitol spent P801,000 for the multi-purpose drying pavement and trading post.
The 10 barangays which have new evacuation centers are Poblacion 5, Kabangkalan, Siotes, Jagbuaya, Kansi, Lusong, Montealegre, Kagbag-o, Bulwang Mag-alwa.
“Under our administration of Governor Junjun, we prioritize in providing human infrastructures to the marginalized sector in order to empower them,” Magpale said.
Joining Davide and Magpale in the ribbon-cutting ceremonies were Capitol executives, including Ramil Abing, executive director of the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission; Marivic Garces, head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office; Hector Jamora, head of the Engineering Office; and Roldan Saragena, head of the Agriculture Office.
Also present during the event were barangays and town officials led by Mayor Aljun Diamante and Vice Mayor Danny Diamante.
“Kini maong mga proyekto maoy resulta kung maghiusa ug magtinabangay kita,” Diamante said.
Aside from the Province, the municipal government, the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office, also provided funds for the construction of the evacuation centers.
Diamante said that he prioritized education, infrastructure and livelihood programs first because these are necessary tools in improving the lives of the poor.
“Basta maningkamot lang kita, sigurado na mahamugaway ang atong kinabuhi,” Diamante said.
