Heavy Rains Bring Floods in Cebu Areas

The heavy rains this morning have flooded major thoroughfares of Cebu City.

The report of Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom), in its official Facebook account, said that around 12 pm Thursday, the areas along USC-Talamban Campus to Nasipit is “flooded.” The same situation also for Rolling Hills in A.S. Fortuna, Fuente Osmeña Circle and Lorega Avenue, according to Citom traffic control center staff, Brian Rollo.

Earlier Thursday, the Department of Science and Technology’s Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards (NOAH) issued its thunderstorm advisory at 11:25 am advising residents of the mountain barangays of Cebu City, Liloan, Mandaue City, Consolacion, Lapu-Lapu City and neighboring areas to take “precautionary measures” as thunderstorm is expected to persist for 1 to 2 hours in the said areas.  NOAH has warned possible flashfloods and gusty winds within the period.
