President Duterte to Launch Mindanao’s Largest Treatment and Rehab Center
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte arrives here tomorrow to launch Mindanao’s largest treatment and rehabilitation facility for victims of illegal drugs.
Located in a five-hectare land donated by the City of Malaybalay in barangay Casisang, it is some three kilometers away from here.
The project that is embedded in the heart of the President will be home to 500-800 patients whose future would depend mainly on their seriousness to stay good at the place.
Dubbed as Northern Mindanao Wellness and Reintegration Center (NMWRC) it is a modern rehabilitation hub, according to Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, the author.
Costing 500 hundred million pesos the project is a donation of the Friends of the Philippines Foundation, headed by Mr. Jose Kho, and Kinming (Xiamen) Real Estate Co., Ltd.
Senator Migz Zubiri explains that the NMWRC will combine the functions of detoxification, rehabilitation, sports and recreation, education and skills training under one roof. Its goal is to turn drug abuse treatment from compulsory to voluntary.
“Standardization, humanization, and modernization shall be the guiding principles of the center,” Sen. Migz concluded.
During the presidential visit tomorrow the entourage shall walk through three-patients’ dormitories, training enter, medical service building, staff dormitory, visitors building, gymnasium, mini amphitheater, basketball courts, courtyards, gardens and kitchen and central supply building.
In a nutshell, the NMWRC in Bukidnon helps families of “addicts” who would have to spend much if they bring their patients to private rehabilitation facilities.
Meanwhile, Provincial Director Benedicto T. Pintor of PNP Bukidnon said that all checkpoints here have been beefed-up not only due to the recent Lamitan, Basilan suicide bombing incident but because the President is coming tomorrow. (RLRB, PIA 10-Bukidnon)
