Anti-Duterte Groups in Cebu on the Day PRRD’s SONA
Over a hundred protesters from different groups marched the streets of Cebu against President Rodrigo Duterte on the day of his State of the Nation Address (SONA) last Monday, July 24, 2018.
Jaime Paglinawan, Chairman of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), led the protesters from the Cebu Provincial Capitol to Police Regional Office 7 along Osmeña Blvd, Cebu City. They marched with their banners stating their grievances against Duterte’s administration.
Protesters were not satisfied in Duterte’s administration and said that they did not feel any change that President Duterte promised for the Philippines.
They also said that the administration is anti-poor with the programs such as Anti-Tambay drive, Oplan Tokhang, TRAIN Law and extra-judicial killings.
The protesters also condemn the change of constitution from Unitary to Federalism and also slammed Duterte about the issue in the West Philippine Sea.
They tagged Duterte as a tyrant with the declaration of martial law in Mindanao.
Police officers were present in the area to secure and make sure the protest will go peacefully.
After their program at the Police Regional Office 7 they head to Colon Street to continue their program. (Aljun Cainghog)
